About Us

PPrescriptions are dispensed for patients on wards, and when leaving hospital, and patients attending Clinics, Casualty and Day Hospitals.

HHow to take medicines to get the most benefits. Pharmacists can advise when, how much and how often, and whether it should be regularly or as needed, for a short course or long term. We may ask you what you know about your medicines to see if we can help you with further information.

AAssisting patients to take their medication correctly by providing medication charts or tablets set out in memory aid containers.

RRe-stocking wards and departments. Pharmacists check prescription charts on the wards to ensure medicines are used effectively. Technicians ensure that medicines are available on the wards for patients.

MMedicines information. We distribute up to date information about medicines, and answer questions from Doctors and Nurses. We help to write policies relating to looking after medicines in the hospital and we arrange talks and training for Nurses. We have links with other colleagues and specialists and can also obtain information from manufacturers.

AAdvising about side effects of medicines. Ensuring doses are appropriate, and checking for interactions between medicines.

CComputerised labelling, ward stock lists and issues to wards, as well as ordering and invoicing. We have twice daily deliveries from wholesalers and also order medicines directly from manufacturers and other hospitals.

YYou don't have to make an appointment to ask a Pharmacist.
If you would like to know more about your medicines - ask your Pharmacist.
