Two Day Mental Health Law Course (non ASWs)

 

The 2 day training is provided by the South West England Approved Social Work Training Consortium specifically designed for managers of ASWs who are not ASWs themselves.

 

This course has been developed by the ASW Training Consortium and will provide a basic understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and issues facing practitioners and their managers.

 

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice and have knowledge of their context within the provision of services
  • Explore current issues in the use of the Act relating to the supervision and management of ASWs
  • Consider issues relating to the supervision and management of ASWs
  • Explore inter-agency working, the role of the voluntary sector and funding issues
  • Examine proposals for law reform in the Mental Health White Paper

This course is open to Partnership Trust and Social Services only.
