This one-day module will explore the impact of mental
health problems on carers and families and the range of
support needs they may have. It will describe ways of
working with and involving carers in care planning, look at
the benefits of support groups, how to identify and access
them. Finally, participants will look at their own role in
relation to support groups. Target audience:
Priority given to unqualified staff from Health and
Social Services as well as staff from a wide range of
statutory, voluntary and private agencies. It will also be
appropriate for staff who are qualified but have little
experience working with people with mental health problems.
