A one-day course during which participants will cover
issues around what service users value in mental health
workers and the effects of institutionalisation. It will
explore the links between communication and relationships
and some of the associated main theories and principles.
Participants will explore how these can optimise
communication and relationships. Target
audience: Priority given to unqualified staff from
Health and Social Services as well as staff from a wide
range of statutory, voluntary and private agencies. It will
also be appropriate for staff who are qualified but have
little experience working with people with mental health
problems. This course provides the teaching input
(for Unit 6) for people undertaking the Certificate in
Community Mental Health Care. Course
