A one-day course which will explore the positive and
negative aspects of change. It will look at some of the
changes that are likely to be experienced by people with
mental health problems and the family, carers and friends.
The day will look at the different ways people react and
adjust to change. The session will provide an opportunity to
discuss the concept of motivation including reasons why
people may or may not wish to make a change.
Target audience: Priority given to unqualified staff
from Health and Social Services as well as staff from a wide
range of statutory, voluntary and private agencies. It will
also be appropriate for staff who are qualified but have
little experience working with people with mental health
problems. This course provides the teaching input
(for Unit 9) for people undertaking the Certificate in
Community Mental Health Care. Course
