A one-day course which will help participants to
understand the historical perspectives of the legal
framework as well as the current legislation. In addition
participants will be able to explore the impact of
legislation and policies and gain a knowledge of the roles
and responsibilities of local and national organisations
involved in mental health services and how they relate to
each other. Target audience: Priority
given to unqualified staff from Health and Social Services
as well as staff from a wide range of statutory, voluntary
and private agencies. It will also be appropriate for staff
who are qualified but have little experience working with
people with mental health problems. This course
provides the teaching input (for Unit 4) for people
undertaking the Certificate in Community Mental Health Care.
