This one-day course will look at the importance of
relationships and describe some of the skills, behaviours
and attitudes which are helpful in forming and sustaining
relationships. It also looks at the impact of mental
distress on relationships and will help participants to
identify ways in which they can support individuals in
managing their relationships. Target audience:
Priority given to unqualified staff from Health and
Social Services as well as staff from a wide range of
statutory, voluntary and private agencies. It will also be
appropriate for staff who are qualified but have little
experience working with people with mental health problems.
This course provides the teaching input (for Unit 8) for
people undertaking the Certificate in Community Mental
