Catheter Care Training

 

Dates, Times & Venues: 2003:

 

15 September, at St Pauls Medical Centre, Cheltenham

13 October, at St Pauls Medical Centre, Cheltenham

7 November, at Redwood House, Gloucester Royal

8 December, at St Pauls Medical Centre, Cheltenham

 

This session runs in the afternoon, following on from the catheterisation training. Learners can attend for the whole day, or just the morning or afternoon sessions.

 

 

This workshop gives the learner the chance to update their skills and knowledge relating to the ongoing care of the patient with a urinary catheter. It is suitable for all levels of staff, both qualified and unqualified.

 

Topics include:

  • catheter selection
  • catheter care
  • urine drainage systems
  • catheter hygiene
  • patient education
  • psychological support
  • discharge arrangements & ongoing care
  • bladder installations and washouts
  • troubleshooting common problems
