This Training covers both preventative and reactive Positive Response Training strategies, having both a theory and practical element, and is mandatory for practitioners in designated roles within the Trust.

The course objectives are that following the training all participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of PRT.

  • Understand the need for individualised approach to the prevention and safe management of Challenging Behaviour and aggressive outbursts.

  • Employ all PRT strategies safely and appropriately.

  • Implement appropriate PRT technique with an awareness of the potential risks to both service users and staff.

  • Clearly distinguish between pro-active and reactive strategies.

  • Confidently support an individual who may be distressed when called upon to do so.
