Searching Health Care Databases

 

A hands-on introduction into searching clinical databases: South West Information for Clinical Effectiveness (SWICE), the National Electronic library for Health (NeLH ) and Cochrane will be among the databases explored.

 

The aim of the course is to introduce electronic learning resources and enable practitioners to use them effectively thus supporting Continuing Professional Development, evidence based practice and life long learning. Basic computer skills are needed.

 

The course is up to two hours long.

 

A workbook and support materials are provided.

 

Outcome:

The Practitioner on completion of this course should be aware of the e-resources available and be able to formulate and implement an effective search strategy.

 

The course is PGEA approved.
