Certificate in
Community Mental Health Care
The Certificate is primarily aimed at mental health
practitioners who do not have a professional qualification
relating to mental health and who work in a broad spectrum
of mental health services.
The term "mental health practitioners" includes paid
staff, volunteers, service users and carers who are working
in various ways to influence or improve mental health
services.
In order to gain the Certificate, which is a
related vocational qualification, candidates are assessed
through completion of an assignment for each of the 11 units
and a written test covering all 11 units.
The 11 units add
up to a comprehensive coverage of all the important aspects
of mental health care.
The third intake will be during
June 2003 with 16 places being available for this
cohort. The course is structured with a view to completion
after approximately 15 months.
