Introduction to Postural Management

This is a two-day course for care staff who work with individuals who have multiple disabilities is available for staff teams working in Learning Disabilities. Please contact Physiotherapy Department or Occupational Therapy Department as listed below.

 

Workshop participants will be expected to contribute to discussions and practical exercises that will help them to learn about the various aspects of postural management.

 

The workshop will include:

  • Postural anatomy
  • Interpreting postural terminology
  • Lying
  • Sitting at rest
  • Sitting for activity
  • Standing
  • Care planning for postural management
  • Care of equipment
  • The carers role in specialist assessment
  • Competency assessments, both written and practical
