Introductory Module: Where Do I Fit in?

Day One of this module allows the opportunity for participants to share information regarding job roles and responsibilities, to consider the concept of learning theory; explore the structure of the organisation and identify a framework for presenting reports.

Introductory Module: Team Up To Win

Day Two explores a variety of leadership styles, examines skills in relation to effective team building, and managing motivation.

Module 2: Creating Quality

This one-day module will consider how we strive for quality by examining customer requirements, value for money/standard setting and empowerment of staff.

Module 3: Challenge Of Change

This one-day module examines the principles of managing change, how to implement change, understanding the consequences of change and evaluating the change process.

Module 4: Getting Organised

This one-day module encourages participants to identify major difficulties of time management, set personal and work priorities, and develop ways of managing time more effectively. This module also explores procedures and legal requirements of the manager’s role in respect of Health & Safety.

Module 5: Getting The Message Across

Day One of this module examines aggressive, submissive and assertive behaviour, and identifies how to minimise and deal with resistance to assertive communications. Day Two explores factors which affect the negotiation process and skills in relation to handling and participating in meetings.

Module 6: Introduction to Recruitment and Selection

A comprehensive two-day programme looking at all stages of the recruitment and selection process, the legal background, standards and equal opportunities policy. The programme is participative and designed to help you develop the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake all the various stages of the process effectively. It also provides an opportunity to practice interview skills in a safe environment.

Module 7: Perfecting Presentations

Day One of this module examines the planning and structuring components as well as skills required to deliver an effective presentation. Participants will explore and practice a variety of presentation techniques on Day One of the module and have time to prepare a mini-presentation to be given on Day Two. Day Two will allow each participant to make a presentation which will be video recorded to allow for individual observation and general feedback.

Modules 8 and 9: Managing People Problems

This two-day module explores decision making and problem solving through working with case studies based on real situations within the framework of Trust Personnel Policies and Procedures. Participants have the opportunity to develop skills in managing ‘people problems’ in a safe environment.

Module 10: Appraisal Review Process and Implementation

This one-day module explores the appraisal review system. The skills required to implement appraisal effectively will be examined and practised. Participants will be encouraged to develop an understanding of the need for clear standards of performance and objectives.

Module 11: Fitting In The Finance

Presentation/ Review Module: The Next Step

The morning of this module allows individuals to give a 15 minute oral presentation of one of their chosen assignments to fellow participants. The afternoon session will enable participants to evaluate learning, reflect upon the programme itself, and consider options for future development.

The modules have been designed specifically to reflect the module title, therefore, staff who do not require the full programme may attend those modules that are appropriate to their role.
